Costs in the Maldives vary more by accommodation type than almost anywhere else in the world — a resort and a guesthouse booked for the same week can differ by an order of magnitude.
General market ranges (2026)
These are general 2026 market ranges gathered from current travel-cost guides, not a guaranteed quote — actual prices shift with season and exchange rates:
- Local-island guesthouses: commonly $50–150 per night, often breakfast-inclusive.
- Mid-range resorts: roughly $200–600 per night.
- Higher-end resorts with overwater villas: roughly $400–1,000+ per night.
- Ultra-luxury private-island resorts: can exceed $5,000 per night.
A real example
To give one concrete data point: our own 4-night Island Explorer Getaway package is $450 per person (about $113/night per person), including round-trip speedboat transfer, accommodation, daily breakfast, and whale shark, manta, and turtle snorkeling. Longer packages bring the per-night rate down further — our 10-night package works out to roughly $94/night per person. These prices include transfers and activities, so they're not a like-for-like comparison to a bare room rate, but they give a sense of what a full guesthouse-based trip actually costs.

What else to budget for
International flights to Malé, the domestic flight or speedboat onward connection, and any add-on activities beyond what's included in a package are worth budgeting separately.
